To start off– yes, that is my mom's sweater. And also yes, I love it. I almost left it behind in Austin but somehow fell in love with it when I paired it with my waxed coated jacket. So instead of squeezing it into my overly packed suitcases, I boarded my flight home in said outfit.
This is not a real tutorial. If you're anything like me, you might just love upstyling (yes, I know that's not a word) vintage pieces. So– how to style your mom's sweater in three easy steps:
- Add black
- Add leather
- Add city girl booties (preferably chunky and 3+ inches high)
It's been a crazy week. I'm finally back in Atlanta, reunited with my husband and family. We're working towards closing on a house. The product I've been working on for the last year had its launch announcement today! And in less than two short weeks, we will be taking our ultra-belated honeymoon in Taiwan and Australia.
Nevertheless the hectic, it's great to be back in the Southeast. I hung out with Inspirely last weekend after our family dim sum lunch. It must have been silly sweater day because she donned a cat sweatshirt and I wore a pink, pink sweater with flowers. I almost never wear pink. And I rarely ever wear flowers (other than real ones in bouquet form).
We visited the Oglethorpe stadium on our way home for a quick shoot because of the epic stone walls and memorable castle-like features. The beauty of an empty stadium is how well its structural and textural qualities provide as a still backdrop. The colors and textures speak for themselves and we found ourselves enamored with the details of things that seemed so ordinary at first glance. Much like that pink sweater.
