It's been an eventful past two days. Two of my lovely lady friends came to visit me from Dallas on Friday. Let's just say the past 48 hours have been packed with lots of good food and sightseeing. There will be individual posts for the wonderful local eats we've had, but this post will just touch lightly on our weekend journey.
We initially had planned on visiting Franklin's BBQ Saturday morning. However, due to exhaustion from their long work week and the drive from Dallas, the ladies had difficulty waking up before 10am. Instead, we opted for a lovely breakfast at Cenote. Following breakfast, we spent the early afternoon exploring the different boutiques and shops while walking around SoCo. Some of my favorite shops include Uncommon Objects and UAL.
As a newlywed of Chinese-Taiwanese heritage, I was excited to find brass "Double Happiness" bookstands at Uncommon Objects. It was only $16 for the pair, so I had to have them. Here they are now, sitting on the my little dresser at home.
After extensive amounts of window shopping (and actual shopping!), we stopped by the Greetings from Austin mural at the intersection of 1st and Annie St. for the obligatory Austin tourist photo. This is one I was happy to check off my Austin bucket list.
Next, we made a pit stop at the lookout over the 360 bridge before heading out to Foreign and Domestic for dinner, which was followed by a night out on Rainey Street.
Sunday was a much shorter day for us. Our first stop of the day was La Barbeque. We filled our tummies with some Texas barbecue before heading over to Mt. Bonnell to walk off our food coma. Detailed posts of the weekend goodness to follow! For now though, I feel that a long, good night's sleep is overdue. My bed is calling me...
