Two and a half years ago, when I moved to Texas, I found this gorgeous ruffled coat at my local Goodwill for a mere ten bucks. I remember at the time thinking to myself that someone was foolish to let go of this beauty. Little did I know that in those years living in Austin, the number of days that would warrant wearing this kind of coat would total to be less than 20. Nine out of twelve months in Austin were spent as the summer season. If it got cold, it got frigid enough to reach for the giant down jacket.
This Saturday, ATLiens woke up to a beautiful and comfortable 45-degree morning. After being bedridden all week with a cold, I was eager to roll out of bed for an early morning photo session with a client at the newly opened Ponce City Market. Other than going outdoors on a climbing trip, there's little more satisfying that crawling out of bed on a chilly autumn day at the crack of dawn to take photos. Call me crazy.
I didn't intend to dress like a modern-day interpretation of a 17th-century puritan, but Elysia was quick to quip me as the "Puritan on Ponce." My husband also didn't fail to make remarks on my keen resemblance to an effeminate version of the Quaker Oats logo. What can I say? I was just happy to be oat and about (feel free to send virtual slaps for that one).
